Dear all,
Thanks to all of you visitors who came to the lab meeting today, we
really enjoyed your comments and questions. We had such a long
discussion about our new experimental data, that we didn't actually
have a chance to let Michael Mozer talk about his work with Matt. So
he will give the talk next Friday instead, 12-1 Natcomp seminar room
again! If you wanted to hear him today and couldn't make it, well,
here's your second chance. :) Apparently they also look at how the
auto-correlation structure in the stimulus sequence itself impacts
sequential effects (as we examined as well, but in the explicit
prediction case), but have ERP data to go with it too!
The other thing that I want to clarify is that Crane and I just
checked our code again and realized that in the final version of the
experiment we ran, from which all the data came, did not give a motion
stimulus feedback in the discrimination experiment (with the 7
coherences). It was just an auditory beep plus the word "correct" or
"wrong" on the screen -- we originally planned the motion stimulus
feedback but took it out in the final version for various reasons. We
had a long discussion today in the meeting about whether the motion
stimulus feedback itself could influence the sequential effect -- that
is still a good and valid question, but it doesn't actually apply to
the data I showed you.
Okay, see you all next week. :)
