Dear all,

Sorry for the delay, but here's what I'd like to cover in Tuesday's
probcogsci meeting:

The rational basis of representativeness. J. B. Tenenbaum, T. L. Griffiths
(2001)
http://web.mit.edu/cocosci/Papers/cogsci01_final.pdf

You may remember my optimistic claim that there would be "[s]ome wicked
cool application of a topic model" discussed at the next meeting. Alas,
Roger seems to have been right in his assessment that there are no
interesting applications of topic models. (Although there may be something
at NIPS coming up.) I apologize if you were preparing yourself for a topic
model paper and instead got this. I imagine you might feel akin to a child
receiving a lump of coal on Christmas morning. If you feel this way, buck
up! Just as coal is supremely useful, so too is a study of
representativeness!

Toodles,
Gabe

p.s.: Who is getting pizza/beer for the meeting? Is it me?
