Abstract:
The nasal diphthong, one of the outstanding endings of many
lexical items, and the phonological nasal vowel are the
subject of this paper. They shall be looked into through
Optimality Theory. As for its contrastive value, data tell
us that the nasal vowel, as VN, contrasts with V, the oral
vowel, whereas the nasal diphthong contrasts directly with
the non-nasal one.
